Zoom Video Conferencing for Remote Teaching and Learning
In response to the COVID-19 developments, and with the recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and San Antonio Metro Health to ensure we are minimizing the risk of exposure to our students and employees, temporary changes have been made to the way the five Alamo Colleges deliver face-to-face instruction and academic, student, and technical support services.
Please visit https://www.alamo.edu/coronavirus/ for more information about remote teaching and learning and student resources, including low-cost internet service and student emergency aid.
Zoom Video Conferencing
Zoom is a web-conferencing tool that allows you to communicate synchronously (or "live") with your instructor and classmates. For students enrolled in face-to-face courses that will be held remotely due to COVID-19, you will meet at the regularly scheduled day and time of the week via Zoom. Your instructor will send you a calendar invitation to a reoccurring Zoom session through your ACES student email, or they may provide you with an interactive web link in one of the following areas within Canvas:
Join each class meeting using the link provided by your instructor with either the Zoom Desktop Client or a web browser. The Zoom Cloud Meetings application is also available for iOS or Android devices.
Unless your instructor requires you to record a presentation with Zoom, or if they have set their meetings to only allow authenticated users to join the session, students do not need to create a Zoom account in order to access remote instruction.
